I had a hard time going to sleep last night, after watching the Rams get beat. So I'm watching 187 channels blur by as I rapid fire the remote @ 5 channels per second. Suddenly I see one of my favorite movies, "A Hand-Maids Tale" on the Sci-Fi Channel. For those of you out there with scrotums, this movie is to feminism what "A River Runs Through It" is to fly-fishing. Futuristic/Realistic military state takes over, encamps some women, and others get to be child-bearers. ("Precious Gift" with their hands held up like a grail, I almost wet my pants every time they say it.) Anyhow, most hard-core femi-nazi's see this as an inevitable consequence of our patriarchal society. I see it as a playful romp through fantasy! Actually, it is such a heinous load of crap, but, there are women out there that are convinced that this is going to happen if we overturn Roe. They think that women will become property, rich women will enslave poor women to have their children, and it will all be sanctioned by the State. I love the fact that one of the only places that will air this miserable piece of trash is the Sci-Fi Channel, and then, only at like 2:00 am. I only wish that the old Mystery Science 3000 guys would have aired it and gone off on it's rampant stupidity. About 2 weeks ago on NPR (I know, I know), Diane Rheem(?) was talking about Margaret Atwood, the writer of the book f the same name. Oy vay. First off, is Diane really Joe Lieberman's mother? She sure sounds like it. Secondly, they took call after call of lezbo-femi-nazi-kooks who swear this wil happen. Personally, I find it comforting to know that women will so eagerly go to such great lengths to prove themselves too emotional and reactionary to ever be elected to high public office. The fact that these callers actually think they represent any kind of majority of public opinion is completely absurd. These women are on the lunatic fringe of whatever movement they claim to represent. If they're not, it just goes to help my first point regarding their un-electability. (I made it up.)
