I've often said that liberals, progressives, moderates or whatever they want to call themselves these days, will only embrace a minority as long as that minority serves their needs. They will pimp their little minority for all he or she is worth. If that little whore of a minortiy dares step out of the party line, they are thrown to the curb, virtually shunned. Take for example, the recent events in Holland. An openly gay, vegan, environmental whacko politician was assassinated. By all social measures this guy was as liberal as they come. But, simply because he had a view of immigration which was not in keeping with the current party ideology, he was labeled a "right-wing extremist." Here's a guy who lived every part of his life as a liberal, but, because he has one idea that steps out of line, he's shunned by his own people. It happens every day here, too.
