One of my friends who stops by here infrequently asked me the other day how much it costs to do this page and I said, "Nothing." His response was something that I had always considered in the back of my mind but never wanted to face up to. He asked how much time do I spend on it that I could be doing something more monetarily productive. Like I said, I've often thought about it but just dismissed it or rationalized it away. Well as the day went on, I really thought about how much this has cost, as far as lost opportunity, mental energy, distraction, etc.

Before I go home for the night, let me tell you what I do and how I get paid. I am a Mortgage Banker or Loan Officer. I originate loans for people to get homes. No, I am NOT a Mortgage Broker, thankyouverymuch, they suck and are scumbags. I do mostly New Construction and consider my specialty to be First-time buyers and those with less than perfect credit. I believe very strongly in the value of home-ownership and I do at times work very hard to get some people into homes who otherwise would not be able to get into a home. I take the extra time that most Loan Officers don't want to spend doing that, and I charge accordingly. The company I work for is currently the 4th largest provider of home loans in St. Louis. We can do loans pretty much anywhere in the country, but we do 99.8% of them in St. Louis and St. Charles Counties. I get paid a commission based on the yield or profit the company makes on each loan. I won't mention a dollar amount about how much money I make for a few reasons. First, it's tacky. Second, sometimes I think I don't really deserve to make as much money as I do considering how much time I spend, well, dicking around with this thing. Third, it's nobodies business what I make. I will give some examples of what I make per loan, though. In the past 2 days, for example, I closed 3 loans. On one I made a little over $1700, on another, just over $1500, and the last one, a bit over $500. Why the difference? Varying loan amounts, rates, etc. Plus, the last one was for a woman who works at HUD whose loans I've done before so it was very easy and quick to do. Well, I closed a total of 9 loans in April, so that can give you a ball park sketch of what I'm talking about. Frankly, I never, ever thought I'd make as much money as I do.

That brings me to my point. I'm losing a lot of money by wasting as much time as I do on this. Besides being a way to teach myself some very basic HTML, this started as a way to make people laugh, expose liberal stupidity and at the same time stroke my own ego. Well, you know what? I know I'm funny and smart and I've learned that in the face of a rational conservative, most liberals would just as soon go away instead of lose a good argument or tolerate someone they believe is intolerant. I've found that the other sites that I used to stalk and harass when they made stupid liberal comments, tend to not say as many liberal stupid things as much anymore. I don't need to make people laugh or prove how smart I am anymore. I may not be the funniest or smartest guy in the room, but, it would have to be a pretty crowded room. I have wasted enough time on those endeavors.

In short, I think my work here is finished. In a way, this is like meeting a drunk ex-girlfriend at a party and then leaving her at her doorstep without going in and having one last nostalgia bone. You know she's great in the sack, makes you feel good, and is an easy way to waste a hour and still have a guilt-free good time. But, she's still a waste of time. Every minute I spend here, I could be doing something more productive, ie, helping people AND making money. I used to think that trying to un-brainwash liberals was a noble goal, alas, they can not be helped. I used to think that I could somehow bring some people to Christ, but, I can't, only He can. Therefore, I am not going to update anymore than one time a week. Let's say, over the weekend perhaps. I think the public can live without my liberal bashing or feminst slamming for a week. If I do have a true free minute to update throughout the week, I'll try to just post the link to either my disgust or pleasure and that will be the extent of it. Come to think of it, this will be harder to stop doing than I thought. But, I owe it to myself, my family, my company, and whoever is out there that needs my Superman-like lending expertise, Loise.
